The collaboration between DB Schenker and the global logistics real estate company Prologis continues. DB Schenker, which rents the entire DC1 premises in Prologis Park Arlanda, will also rent a new extension of 7,505 square meters starting January 1, 2022. DB Schenker’s total rental area in Arlanda City will now be 71,254 square meters.
DB Schenker has been the tenant of the DC1 facility in Prologis Park Arlanda since the building was completed in 2008. In 2010, the logistics space was extended by another 8,000 square meters. Now, the world-leading provider of global logistics services chooses to expand with Prologis once again. As of January 1, 2022, the lease also includes the latest extension of DC1.
“DB Schenker is an important tenant for Prologis, in Sweden as well as in the rest of Europe, where they rent several facilities with a total area of more than 320,000 square meters. We are proud to expand our collaboration with them in Arlanda City and continue to provide them with modern and attractively located logistics facilities, says Tony Johansson, project manager, Nordics, Prologis.
Like the other units at the DC1 facility, the new extension is Sweden Green Building Council certified—meaning the purchased energy is 25% lower than the national standard for new buildings. Unique to the new unit is the goal to further reduce energy consumption by installing a solar system on the roof.
“The sustainability dimension is an important component in our collaboration with Prologis. In connection with the expansion of the DC1 property, we also intend to invest in a solar cell system to be able to further reduce our energy consumption. We have previously, together with Prologis, replaced all lighting in our properties with LED,” says Håkan Nydén, CEO, Schenker Logistics.
Enables growth in healthcare
The area is known for its well-developed infrastructure and logistically strong location. Prologis Park Arlanda is next to the E4 and close to the intersection where the E18 to Oslo and E20 to Gothenburg converge. With only 36 kilometers to Stockholm and 5 kilometers to Arlanda Airport, the park is an attractive location for companies that want to reach customers in both the Stockholm area and the rest of the Nordic region.
“The expansion of our areas in Arlanda City is an offensive investment and another important step in our growth journey. A focus area for this new expansion will be healthcare. This is an area where we have a long history of handling customers with high demands on their logistics supplier and its compliance within GDP and GMP, for instance. By expanding in Arlanda City, we can welcome new customers in this segment, while at the same time enable our current customers to grow,” says Nydén.
