Prologis, world leader in logistics real estate, continues to expand its portfolio in the Nordic region. The latest development, Prologis Park Eskilstuna DC3, will be available for rent 2023. The first column of the 16,600 square meter logistics facility was raised. To celebrate the milestone with those who made the project possible, a first column gathering took place with YLAB, the turnkey contractor, and representatives from Eskilstuna municipality.
Prologis is investing further in its logistics park in Eskilstuna, Sweden. The brand-new speculative facility, DC3, has begun to take shape and was recently celebrated with a first column gathering. The modern logistics facility will cover approximately 16,600 square meters and is built on land acquired from Eskilstuna municipality in September 2021. DC3 is expected to be completed in Q1 2023.
Important milestone for Prologis' expansion in Sweden
“Eskilstuna has all the characteristics of a good logistics location: proximity to transport routes to Europe, robust demand and a forward-looking municipal management. So it’s a prime location for Prologis to strengthen its presence. The raising of the first column of DC3 marks an important step in this strategic expansion,” says Sara Dawidson, development manager at Prologis Nordics.
With its industry-leading position in sustainability-certified logistics facilities, Prologis has high ambitions for DC3. Like all new Prologis construction in the Nordic region, DC3 is built with a BREEAM standard and will have energy-efficient LED lighting.
A celebration of cooperation
Dawidson attended the gathering along with Tony Johansson, head of development Prologis Nordics; Andreas Berggren, leasing manager; YLAB, the contractor; and representatives from Eskilstuna Logistics and Establishment.
“It feels important to gather at the construction site, and together celebrate this important milestone with those who make it all possible. Through an event like this, we get the opportunity to do just that, and at the same get the chance to show Prologis' appreciation of the good cooperation with the turnkey contractor YLAB and the municipality,” says Dawidson.
Well-developed infrastructure in a strategic location
The first tenant for DC3 has yet to be determined. It is clear, however, they will have access to a state-of-the-art climate-smart logistics facility in an advantageous location: 35% of Sweden's population lives within 100 kilometers of Prologis Park Eskilstuna. Located only 70 kilometers from the capital, Eskilstuna functions as a last-mile delivery area for the entire Stockholm region. The infrastructure consists of a well-developed road network, railway connections that run all the way to Europe, a dry port and the port of Södertälje.
In addition to the large catchment area and access to Eskilstuna's well-developed infrastructure, the future tenant in DC3 will have a logistics property with good signage opportunities. The property is located, like DC2, right next to the E20 motorway between Eskilstuna and Stockholm.
“We look forward to completing the facility by continuing the good cooperation with YLAB and to eventually starting a new collaboration with our future tenant,” concludes Sara Dawidson at Prologis Nordics.
